Rosie Woods

Rosie's work draws on the luscious attention to detail of the old masters and the indulgent abstractions of Colour Field Abstract Expressionism, bringing both areas of art history to contemporary painting and the public art realm.

The finished works are a dance between the materiality of painting and the slick aesthetics of the digital.

"The forms themselves shift between objects we might recognise such as textiles or shells yet remain intentionally unresolved as conceptually I'm interested in giving form to the intangible.

I hope to visualise what our inner aura might look and feel like.

That is why my work combines figuration and abstraction, as I explore the meeting point between our physical and transcendent existence."
